Momonosuke

Kozuki Momonosuke, an iconic character with a rich collection of anime merchandise, is the current shogun of Wano Country. As the son of the late daimyo of Kuri, Kozuki Oden and Toki, his lineage boasts of the former shogun, Kozuki Sukiyaki, making him the older brother of Kozuki Hiyori.

Born 28 years ago during an adventurous voyage with the Whitebeard Pirates—a journey often revisited in popular streaming platforms—Momonosuke’s life has been anything but simple. His rightful claim to the shogunate after Oden was thwarted by the Kurozumi Family. The political tension, often discussed in manga collections, escalated with Kurozumi Orochi’s administration attempting to end Momonosuke’s life.

The gravity of the situation became evident when Oden faced execution, and the formidable duo of Orochi and Kaidou waged a war to obliterate the Kozuki bloodline. To ensure his safety, Toki propelled Momonosuke 20 years into the future, a storyline that has intrigued many at anime conventions.

Emerging from this temporal leap, Momonosuke and his loyal allies took to the seas, rallying forces for a showdown against Orochi and Kaidou. To protect his identity, he posed as the offspring of his retainer, Kin’emon. This strategic play and his eventual acceptance of his leadership role are often highlighted in character profiles.

To fortify his position in the impending conflict, Momonosuke underwent a transformation through Shinobu’s Juku Juku ability, aging him two decades physically. The outcome? The Ninja-Pirate-Mink-Samurai Alliance’s triumphant emergence, sealing Momonosuke’s position as shogun, and earning him accolades as one of Wano’s paramount leaders. Such tales often receive stellar anime reviews.

First introduced to the audience when Kin’emon mentioned his mission to rescue his “son” on Punk Hazard, Momonosuke’s identity layers were peeled gradually. His association with the Straw Hat Pirates throughout the Dressrosa and Wano Country Sagas further solidified his prominence.

In terms of appearance, Momonosuke bears a striking resemblance to his father, Oden. Their similar facial structures and the characteristic wild mane of black hair are unmistakable. Adorned in a kimono stamped with the Kozuki Family crest and a cloak decorated with crescent moon designs, his stature is imposing. His younger version, with a samurai-like appearance, often garners attention, especially his pink kimono symbolizing “peach” in Japanese, making it a popular choice among anime merchandise collectors.
